To apply for SSC Stenographer you need: Class 12 pass from a recognised board. The age limit is 18–30 years, calculated as on the crucial date in the notification.

Other conditions
- Nationality: Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or other categories as specified in the notification.
- Upper age limit is 30 years for Grade C and 27 years for Grade D.
